YOUTH FUNDRAISER YARD SALE:
As announced on 11/25, we will hold another yard sale to raise funds
for summer camp and other youth outings. Our initial sale was a $400 success,
so we are encouraged to try again on Saturday,
Dec. 9, around 9am
in front of the Chapel. Since
today is the last Sunday to drop items off at Services, you will need to
either come by the office on Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, or drop items
off on sale day. If you can
contribute some time on the 9th it’s most appreciated,
especially during morning hours of set-up. See Yolly for any sale details. Thanks for all the wonderful
participation!
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATONS: Our Incarnational theme this year will be: WHO
was really born on the night that Messiah came to earth? There are many ideas out there about
who Jesus Christ is. There need
not be any doubt. Scripture is
filled with descriptions of the answer. Our horizons of understanding can be
broadened as we ponder the full revelation. We will culminate our search on Dec. 23 with a full musical
celebration of Jesus’ birth.
We will also enjoy another combined potluck with New Covenant
Church on Dec. 16.
PRAYER REQUESTS
& UPDATES
Marie Ongchangco: Marie is doing much better as she continues
with treatment for injuries sustained in a fall. She remains quite fragile and needs
our constant prayers.
Joyce & Tommy
Carr: Joyce has
established a place in Oakland
where Tommy can be treated for his tooth pain without duplicating the
situation that put him in the coma last year. Joyce is also battling some on the Sonoma staff who are
trying to label her as disruptive to her son’s health and peace. [3445 San Pablo Dam Rd Apt 26, El Sobrante, 94803]
Tina Johnson: Tina sent this note regarding an
employment opportunity: “I applied to Paychex in San Ramon and have
been invited to an Open House on Monday
[Dec. 3]. They want me to fill out an application, take 2 assessment
tests and speak with a Supervisor. This is the first step and maybe
this will lead to an offer.”
Ofelia Guzman: Please keep Ofelia in prayer
following the auto accident and sustained injuries. I’m waiting to here past the
language barrier for an update on her condition.
Pam & Peter
Goode: Here is
an update on Pam’s breast cancer and Peter’s gout from Pam: “I
am still in remission so that is a positive note. I was checked last week.
Peter is doing well with his gout. He does have a blood clot in his leg
that he has to take medicine for every day now.”
Heather Rodriguez:
Pam Goode
requests prayers for her 5-year old niece Heather. She is being treated for leukemia at
Oakland Children’s Hospital.
Her mom's name is Madilyn
and the father is Joseph. Here’s
the latest update:
“Heather is holding her own. She still has to go
every week twice a week for Chemo and Radiation. She is brave but some days
just gives up and says she wants to go to Heaven. How sad. Poor little
girl. Her mom is not doing well
at all. She is young and this is her only child. She is having a very hard
time. I asked her to go to your
service on Sunday but she says she doesn't ever leave Heather unless
someone else is with her. She is not strong enough to go out yet except to
the hospital.”
Isabell Hoeh: The family of Dr. Herman Hoeh
and his wife Isabell are grieving over the loss of mother Isabell who died
Nov. 21 in her 83rd year.
Dr. Hoeh had preceded her in death.
Judy McConaghy: Prayers are requested for Judy
who is the Executive Director of Pregnancy
Choices Clinic. Judy has
been suffering from breathing difficulties and has been diagnosed with
fluids in her lungs. She also
has a problem with her insurance provider regarding her identity due to
their misspelling her name so has not been able to schedule an MRI
yet. Meanwhile she suffers and
tries to continue in her new role as the primary leader of PCC and is much
needed in her position.
Pregnancy Choices Clinic: It has been a difficult year of
transition for PCC. For several
months it was necessary to pay for 2 executive salaries as we replaced the
leadership. There have been
major course changes and income has not kept pace. PCC is running about $10,000 in the
red at this time and needs prayer for a good finish on the year. There is much promise on the horizon
but the benefits of change have not been materially realized yet. Thanks for you prayers of support for this important life-saving ministry.
Hang Nguyen: This is a request from Susan for
her friend: I…would appreciate everyone's prayers for another
ex-coworker of mine (from Quantum) who just lost her 19 year old daughter
in a drive-by shooting in Fremont
last weekend. I also went to a funeral about 5 years ago for her son who
was born disabled and passed away as a child. She has one remaining
daughter who is about 16 or 17. My friend's name is Hang Nguyen and her
daughter's name was Sophie.
Acts 27:25: …for I believe God, that
it shall be even as it was told me.
